In 2019, Johnson & Towers and Western Branch Diesel, along with their respective companies, merged and established Indel Power Group as their holding company. Indel Power Group companies operate out of 20+ locations throughout New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, and Kentucky. These locations supply sales and service for engines, powertrains, and related components to the on-highway, power-generation, oil/gas, construction & industrial, mining & quarry, and marine markets.
In an effort to better serve our customers, Indel Power Group has opened a new marine service location under the Johnson & Towers brand in Wanchese, North Carolina. The Johnson & Towers brand is well known and recognized throughout the marine industry due to its national prominence in new engine sales. The Wanchese location is the seventh marine service location strategically placed along the East Coast from New Jersey to South Carolina. The new location is offering the same great selection of parts and quality marine service that customers have come to know and will also provide faster response for local boat yards and builders, charter boats, workboats, pleasure crafts, and more.
“Boat builders, transient boaters, etc., in the area can take advantage of our local parts and service support,” says David Shook, General Service Manager for Marine, Indel Power Group. “Being closer will be more convenient for the customer.”
Indel’s factory-certified marine technicians are regularly trained in the latest technologies. They perform their maintenance and repair work using state-of-the-art tooling and equipment to complete any repairs. The Wanchese location will have parts on hand for marine-based customers’ engines and transmissions, including mtu, Detroit Diesel, Volvo Penta, Westerbeke, and Northern Lights, and will offer service on all of these products.
“We’re also offering free inspection of your engine(s). We’ll send a tech to your boat anywhere from Wanchese to Hatteras,” says Shook. “Our technician will check for leaks and evaluate fluids, hoses, and other items in the inspection list. We offer a discount on labor and parts for any repairs scheduled as a result of the inspection.”
Western Branch Diesel has done a lot of business during the past 25 to 30 years with Carolina boat builders using mtu and Volvo Penta products and is excited about being closer to the customer to support the local businesses. The Wanchese location is on the water and features a boat slip, which customers can pull into for maintenance work, or to pick up parts directly from the dock.
“Right behind the location, within 20 feet, we have a full, hook-up boat slip with 50-amp service for convenient repairs. Customers can back right in for an oil change, we’ll change the oil, and they can take off,” says Shook. “This is going to be a great location during the tourism season and beyond. We’ll be ready to take care of our marine-based customers, from fishing charters and workboats to pleasure crafts.”
The Wanchese location opened its doors on April 19, 2021.
